So...
I've been thinking about getting a group together to go check out the stuff at the Los Angels County Museum of Art... planning it for Saturday, May 29. I know this means some of you would have to request a day off from work, which is why I'm posting this a month ahead. I just think a Saturday would be best because of:
Less Traffic. No confliction with school schedule.
I'm planning this for two reasons: The LACMA is cool, and it would probably be the last time, or one of the last times, we can hang out with Patrick before he goes off to South Korea.
So basically just imagine a cool day, hanging out at the LACMA, having lunch etc...
So hopefully, he'll still be here on that day... I would suggest the 22nd of May, but that might be a bit too early for people. You guys let me know.

Yeah, this sounds awesome. Though I expect to be here then, that's all really dependent upon what my recruiter is up to and whether a school can be found at all. It's starting to seem like the recruiter really is less reliable than I've hoped. In any case, the earlier the better but I suggest visiting LACMA even if I'm not here.

Patrick... I hope you can make it, but I'll definitely go without you if two or more people go.

It's fun to go to the LACMA! It's fun to go to the LACMA-EH! Go and see some art! Don't go to wal mart! It's way to easy to load your cart.
Anyway, you know where you guys should totally go?
Korea Town.
Also Patrick, what's the status on your trip? Do you have tickets yet, or all that comes from the recruiter?

The recruiter pays for my ticket, yeah. Just got a reply from him saying that he's waiting for some schools to call him back. 'Sometimes it happens quickly, sometimes not so' he says.

I'm sorta wary about the way you describe things. You'd think that there would be a job, and that these guys would look to fill them. Just saying, always have an eye open.

Well, yes, that has always been in the back of my mind, even before I applied to Noble Teacher. Also, it should be noted that that article is only half relevant. The hagwon system is Korea's private schools. Korea's public schools, on the other hand, I've heard are much better for ESL teachers and not all private schools are the same. Even if I do get screwed over by a hagwon school, I have friends and acquaintances there now who can hook me up with a better school and/or a better company. At the moment, no money has gone to Noble Teacher, either by myself or a school, so I doubt they're stalling.

Well, as long as you're alright while you're over there. There's very little we could do if something happened to you. Just be sure to accept international calls if you notice the tele mention something about Seoul being sacked.

Just putting this out there: The LACMA will be open Memorial Day... May 31st. Furthermore, it also happens to be a day when Target sponsors free admission if a Holiday falls on a Monday. So also suggesting this day assuming that more people will have the day off. Even if we still go May 29th, the saturday before, admission is only around 12 dollars, but a special Dual exhibition, "Renoir in the 20th Century" and "American Stories" is $25 dollars. So, if you guys would like, we could go on that Monday and save $12.
Just a heads up... I will have my car ready to go by the time we go... and I love driving, and I love LA... so consider me the designated driver.
To not make things complicated... the date is still set for Saturday May 29th. The above statement is just a suggestion and probably won't happen.

Does this mean you can't do Saturday the 29th either? Cause as far as I know you work Saturdays too.

Heh, the Saturday is a work in progress, plus, I am intentionally holding off on putting in any requests until I know event is solid. I've asked for a lot of days off this month.

Well... I can't go. 2 other coworkers on my side of the job have that weekend/week off. Sorry.

Well we'll see if you can go during a weekday... don't you have Tuesdays free? That way Anta is good to go as well, without having to ask for a day off.
