But... but...
Man, how come the new days suck? I've also started a retro gaming binge, been playing Diablo, the old Jedi Knight (based on the Quake II/I engine I think), and various crap on emulators. Man...

Well, actually, things are pretty good now. But, we did hit a "game slump/recession" of sorts during turn of the century.

lol, we get to use the phrase "turn of the century". I'm so used to hearing that in a 1900's context "at the turn of the century, it was discovered spitting on the sidewalks promoted urban disease". The Irony? People still spit on the sidewalks.
In any case, what games do you see on the raydar? Well, Fear, Stubbs, Collosus, Age of Emp 3, Quake 4, but what else is there?

AWESOME. CREATE YOUR OWN CHARACTER OPTION. NEED I SAY MORE? Oh, and Resident Evil 4 is friggin awesome too.

I've already made the Pope (Bloodthirsty assasin style) a hot ninja chick, and a gay guy who uses tamborines as weapons. And I've only unlocked a couple of the usable character creation accessories.

It's isn't actually about licking sidewalks. The short and the long of it is that: You walk on these rather filthy sidewalks, and you wear shoes in your house. Public spitting adds to the general filth of the outside.
Houses are actually awesome enclosed breeding grounds, moreso than outside, so you take the various flora and fauna that is on every crevice outside (public restrooms, gutters, ect) and put it in your house, where it will stay. Unlike outside that is rather exposed to the elements, houses are controlled environments. Controlled temperature, no wind/rain/direct UV, controlled humidity, ect. And if you think scrubbing your shoes on a mat takes them off, you might as well think brushing works without toothpaste.
You may say "So what? I'm still alive, kicking, heathy. Just this morning I kicked some ass, took names, ect, ect. Stop being a pansy you little wuss. Pathogens build character.*" Lots of stuff are background infections anyway, might not even cause you cold symptoms, but they are there, waiting (a la mono and herpes). Anyway, viruses and other pathogens, while not harmful themselves can cause: Cancer, autoimmunity, immune supression, weakness, lethargy, and many other fun things. There are lots of other stuff, but I'll save the infectious disease lecture for later. In short, public spitting spreads infectious diseases, and wearing shoes inside your dwelling increases indoor polution.
Today's Kuat's teen pro-positive life choice is Stop wearing shoes in the house and spitting in public you filthy uncivilized barbarians.
Really, it isn't that hard to take your freakin' shoes off.
Really
I kid. Well, not really. But I hope I don't sound too harsh.
Then again, I don't know if your tribes can read?
Carpets and stuff look better too, does wonder for being clean.
*Actually they sorta do, and living in an enclosed bubble your whole life would be disasterous. You need to see pathogens to protect against them, ect. It is of course a great deal more complicated than I present, but trust me. Thus the great many "ects". Man, this tangent went WWAAAAAYYY toooo looonnnggg. Just keep in mind everything in medicine is as such: 'the rule is this, but then again, here is this huge list of exceptions to the rule. But we still call it a rule, even though 40% of the time it is violated like a marine in the center of 20 zerglings."

I'll just leave my shoes outside my dorm room so that I can find that they've been stolen the next day.

Or you could, you know, store them somewhere. Maybe like in the closet? Or maybe next to the door? Unless everyone is after your payless shoes, you can always lay them away somewhere and not trounce around your whole place with them. Then again, that would be soooo haarrdd...
Well, you are going to College to learn abstract thinking. I know, it took me a while to solve such complex conundrums such as the one I had proposed. Hell, I wrote my senior thesis on it.

I keep my shoes in the closet to save space.

I guess we aren't in disagrement then? When I say wear I mean "going all over the place with them" not "in the corner of your closet". The ideal situation is to have them on a flat tile/wood surface somewhere. Those are easier to clean what not, and carpets are a virutal storehouse for crap. Such as dust mite feces.

I rarely wear my shoes in the building... I'm too much of a slacker for that.

I'm not good at guesstimating distances.

Bigger or smaller than a bread box?
Yeah, you should take pictures of your pad.
