You'd probably like her first CD more, there's a track on it that reminds me of Dinosaur Jr. Simply because there is a part on where she screams and it reminds me of the Lou Barlow.

I just got Barlow's solo album.
Of course it's all folky acoustic love/lost stuff.

Number Girl - School Girl Distortional Addictwww.sendspace.com/file/vx5tzzIt appears that when the Pixies toured the rest of the world when they couldn't land a show in the US, their influence on the Japanese scene was significant. Here, Number Girl, is another great band that takes the Pixies' style of simplistic, but highly catchy tunes and does amazing things with it while also tacking notes from other alt rock outfits like Sonic Youth and Husker Du as well as early punk in The Ramones. However, Number Girl is big in their own right being perhaps the largest name in Japanese alternative rock. Hope you enjoy.

Music for Val. Val asked me about a few bands so I thought I would upload her an album. I know she doesn't check the boards much often so perhaps somebody could clue her in? Joanna Newsom - Ys www.sendspace.com/file/hkm8dqApart from topping pretty much every "Best Albums of 2006" lists, Ys takes Joanna Newsom's folk music to epic heights. The orchestral arrangements that back Newsom's beautiful vocals are lush but never over-the-top. All around a masterpiece album in the classic sense.

Even if it is for Val, I'll still download it anyways. Because I'm such an antagonist.

Oh, yeah, I guess. What's that to? Why am I out of the loop? It's a video game character. I dunno, I always thought his name sounded like "That's enough", so I used his name as such.

Yeah, I just thought it was some manipulation of the infamous "that's enough" without any other reason behind it. Live and learn.

okay I uploaded this for someone else so I thought I would post it here, too Can't you take a Slint? (Slint's Spiderland and self-titled ep) www.sendspace.com/file/4m1r9vI may have uploaded Slint for you guys before but I thought I would again in case some of you missed it or I never did upload it before and it is all in my head. Slint is arguably the founding band of post-rock. And probably the best. I could try to describe them but I would fail. Just listen if you're interested beautifully paced drums and moody atmospheric guitars.

Yeah, I listened to it when you first posted it. After a revisit, I do have to a say that the intrumentals are ok, but I can't seem to hear the vocals really well. Is this a live recording?

No, they're not live but like any post-rock the vocals are lower in the mix than usual.
The idea being the vocals supporting the music rather than the other way around. Probably best to listen in the car where you're half paying attention. The real aspect here being the mood.

Hey Patrick, Andrew, do you guys remember that time we were at my house and tried to do some improv and recorded 3 "sessions?" Well anyway, I listened to them again, and despite the crappy sound quality, we sound freaking good.
I mean seriously, there is one we recorded where we were really grooving, and it lasted 10 minutes!
