Yeah, 3D drawn-type graphics are ugly.

Gametrailers just posted a plethora of new Street fighter IV gameplay videos. www.gametrailers.com/game/5667.html#gameplayWhile I'm still rather unimpressed by the direction they took the graphics in, the gameplay is looking mighty fine. They've completely took out the parry system with a new system that involves canceling moves with a dash to promote forward approaches from the ground as opposed to jumping in all the time. I'm not too fond of the the lack of parry, but it looks like the game will be a lot more solid of a 2.5d attempt that King of Fighter's. Yeah, 3D drawn-type graphics are ugly. Well, sometimes it works. Dark Cloud 2, Eternal Sonata, and Jet Set Radio look pretty good. In Street Fighter's case though, even Ryu is shocked by it:

The character you play seems way, way too overpowered if you ask me. If you have to power to grab and chuck anything you want whenever you want, the game is gonna get really repetitive.
Why is he so powerful, anyways? Not even Darth Vader had that kind of power.

I just love the thought of being able to make a chain of storm troopers holding on to dear life. Tech demos are sometimes more fun that way.

Because that's all you see in the trailer, that's not all the game's going to be.
Why is he so powerful? I'd say he's just about as powerful as any fully accomplished Jedi or Sith Lord would be. He isn't really doing anything that much different then what we've seen Vader, Yoda, or the Emperor do, might have a few more powers, but we can also argue that everything we've seen in the movies isn't fully representative of the full extent of the force, or the capabilities each character has.
Either way, I'm going to be optimistic and eagerly await this title.

I dunno, I'd have to see more than just over-the-top force powers to make me want to get it. I guess I just prefer playing more of an underdog role, and having control of a super powerful, unstoppable character from the get go kinda provokes a yawn. Also, is it just me or do the enemies have 0% accuracy?

Considering how much fun I had dismembering stormtroopers en masse in Jedi Outcast, I think I'll appreciate tossing fools like hacky sacks while looking like a G.

Keep this in mind: The main character is slated to be THE SECRET APPRENTICE OF DARTH VADER.
Frikkin badass.

I saw the X Play preview/interview about the game and really all that's getting talked about at all is the force powers. I'm starting to think that they're putting too much emphasis on the force powers and ignoring the other cool aspects that should be present. Like, for instance, lightsaber combat, anyone? I'd probably enjoy that especially. Even the video Adrian posted was titled "Lightsaber Gameplay" and how much of that was actually in there?
I hate to keep picking at the game.. but yeah.. The premise and the force powers are awesome but.. the game seems unbalanced and lacks variety. Maybe they're just neglecting talking about the things that seem lacking, but if that's the case, why?

Although the force powers are awesome, the game has another big draw, which is the physics engine they're developing for it. In that aspect, you're gonna be kissing the source engine goodbye. If you look closely at the video, you'll notice that things react in ways you haven't really seen in games before. Just remember how well the trees break apart, or the cables swing. All of that is dynamic, which means there won't be any precut pieces that objects break into. If you hit the edge of a board, the edge will fall off, and not some predetermined piece.
It's still early in its stages and like all trailers isn't going to show you everything the game has to offer. Perhaps you might end up liking it, because as I remember you weren't even remotely interested in No More Heroes and you actually ended up getting it, and that was pretty repetitive anyway, but I'm sure you had fun with it.
And on another note, you ARE an underdog in this game. You're Darth Vader's secret apprentice, you've been trained in secret, chosen to prove yourself in case Luke Skywalker rejects Vader's offer to rule the galaxy with him. I'm sure he won't get all those powers to begin with, what video game character does? It seems that when a video game comes along that claims to be so innovative, people expect to see something completely new, but that is never the case.
Take last year's game that was claimed to be the most innovative in years, Assassin's Creed. All it really does is take platforming and open world game-play to a new level, but that doesn't make it any less fun. It's also another good example of how repetition doesn't necessarily mean it will bore you out, I still play that game once in a while and the experience never ceases to amaze.
So I'm going to anticipate this game for what a good game should be anticipated for: promise of a good story, good gameplay, and great graphics.

If you hit the edge of a board, the edge will fall off, and not some predetermined piece. Awesome, I've actually been waiting for a game to finally do something like that. But yeah, you're right about that No More Heroes part, indeed. But I haven't necessarily written off Force Unleashed as something I'm not interested in just yet. I'm still waiting to see if there are aspects I've yet to see.

I've been bored by Assassin's Creed's repetition.
But I agree with Adrian because A) he's a G and B) because making trees snap and sprinter with my leet forces powers sounds like grade A awesomeness.

Yeah it's silly to want a game where you can actually do that, but the fact that that's how much work they're putting into the engine is reassuring to me. Once again I will refer to the source engine, it was the gravity gun that actually made it fun, and in this case, could be the force powers. And about me being right-- Of COURSE I'm right. Being right is my new thing dude.

Heh heh, cuz I'm a G, I like that reason. Oh, and don't forget being able to snap someone's bones until they become a rag doll as another awesome reason-- not that I like hurting people.

I think the character was in some sort of God mode during that tech demo which made him appear to be overpowered, but I bet it'll be much harder to pull off those force tricks in the real game. Assuming there are interrupts by enemies hitting you and some sort of force bar that limits how many times you can use the force.

Just like Al-Mualim is able to take away your ability to grab, run, block, grasp, or tackle, Darth Vader will take away your ability to turn on your lightsaber.
