Well, I got the damn game.
Graphics look great. While the models aren't that great looking, the designs is super chocolately fudge coated, and it conveys the atmosphere well. Environments are interesting to look at, yadda yadda yadda.
The game runs pretty smoothly, though it lags for me in real graphically intense situations (ie everything is on fire, I fire a lighting bolt, enemy is throwing grenades, bodies are flying at the same time, ect ect).
Enemies are...kinda underwhelming actually. Certain scripted elements are kinda cool. Like, if you set an aggressor on fire, it'll try to find a body of water if it can. They'll also try to use healing stations, and watching Big Daddies and Little sisters interact is kinda cool for some reason. Combat AI on the flipside is a bit simplistic. They're not too bright, hiding behind a corner and shooting them with a shotgun or pistol in the face works a little too well for the stock of baddies I've encountered so far. They may try to dodge and weave now and then, but otherwise, pretty easy. Now my gameplay will revolve around seeing how sadistic I can get with my plasmids (ie, setting them on fire, watching them dive into a pool of water, then electrocute them)
Plasmids are pretty damn cool too. They're useful and un/fortunately, they required to solve certain environment puzzles. I'm currently torn between the lightning bolt plasmid and the fire plasmid because lightning is useful for hacking devices, but immolating things makes me feel pretty wicked. Before playing, I had the intention of not using plasmids other than for facilitating my hacking ability, but that's pretty much impossible due to the aforementioned environment puzzles.
Hacking has changed from connecting 3 boxes minigame to a pipe dream minigame. Nothing too special, not really difficult, but I don't mind the change. I pretty much go through the game hacking any device I can reach.
I'm going through the game and carefully exploring every nook and cranny of it. I'm also making sure I snag and listen to every audio log, which add a lot to the background and atmosphere in my opinion.
Overall, so far it's a pretty cool game. I personally wasn't expecting God's gift to gaming, so I'm cool with it. As usual, this is an initial impression of the game, seeing as how I haven't gotten that far, and hopefully, it won't change when I'm finished playing. I hope there won't be any teeth at the end.
For all, I don't know 3 of you other people who might've gotten it, what are your thoughts?
