Everybody, have your DS's ready, and watch your balls, because they are going to be rocked off by the badass 2-player wi-fi coop alien blasting action. Click on the link below and check out the screenshots and videos, if you think your pathetic scrotum can handle it. kotaku.com/gaming/contra-4/This game looks... damn near perfect. DISCUSS!

Ha, my scrotum is far from pathetic.
EDIT: I also like the circa-89 acrade soundtrack. Very authentic.

Ah yes, something to definitely save up money for.
I wonder if they'll force you to pass hard mode to get the real ending, like Contra 3.

Ah yes, something to definitely save up money for. I wonder if they'll force you to pass hard mode to get the real ending, like Contra 3. Well, I know for a fact that easy mode won't get you the real ending, but I don't know if you HAVE to beat hard mode for it. Also, here's some other special features that the game is supposed to have: * Original NES versions of Contra and Super C * A 20th Anniversary Virtual Museum (box art, screenshots, and info on every Contra title from all territories) * Two digital comics from Contra artist Atsushi Tsijumoto * An interview with Contra Producer Nobuya Nakazato * Five hidden characters, including a Probotector model That first one kicks ass. It let's you brush up your old-school Contra skills.

I wonder who the other characters could be. Well, in addition to Bill Rizer and Lance Bean (Who were designed after Arnold and Stallone),the other two main characters are Mad Dog and Scorpion (who are obviously based on Vin Diesel and Wesley Snipes, though I'm not sure which one is which). Whether those are the "unlockable" characters, I'm not sure. I also find it funny that they are including a Probotector model in with them.

Heh, still leaves two more. Perhaps some Connery and Seagal action?

Heh, still leaves two more. Perhaps some Connery and Seagal action? THAT would kick ass... Although I think Chuck Norris might fit the bill a bit better than Connery. I'd rather see a Connery character in, say... A future castlevania game. Unfortunately, as awesome as the new Castlevania games are, theyseem to have lost their masculinity over the years.

This thread has now evolved from being the "thread dedicated to how badass and awesome Contra 4 is going to be" to the "thread dedicated to how badass and awesome Contra 4 is".
Now, all of you who have purchased their copy of Contra 4 and thereby earned their right to have balls, DISCUSS!
My thoughts:
This could very well be the perfect Contra game. It takes the elements we loved from all the previous Contra games, and rolls them all into one big bundle of badassery. You can hold two weapons at once, like in III, and if collect two of a certain power up, it upgrades it!
There are four characters to choose from initially, although, like in most Contra games, they are pretty much the same guy colored differently.
We all knew it was going to be difficult, but they went above and beyond this time around. THE DIFFICULTY OF THIS GAME IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. I've been playing the game practically nonstop since I bought it, and I haven't gotten past stage 4. There are 9 stages in all. Yes, Contra 4 will kick your ass. HARD.
It has some of the coolest boss fights ever. Just imagine your favorite boss fights from the Contra series, and multiply the awesomeness by 100.
I'm sure I've forgotten some stuff, but hey! That is what this thread is for. Feel free to add any thoughts!
Oh, and the ONLY complaint I have, and it is quite trivial, is the absence of the badass music that we heard in the initial preview videos of the game. But hey, who the heck plays Contra for the music, anyway?

Well, finally made it to Stage 6... It's good to get to see an old friend again, even if he is an annoying-ass boss.

Played one "Game Over"'s worth. Stage 1 is kicking my ass. You weren't kidding about the difficulty. Then again, I didn't doubt you.
