Oh my god, Speed Racer is pure movie magic. It was Speed Racer, plan and simple. Thats what made the movie genius, it was simple. It was also over the top, but that is Speed Racer. It did not turn out that Speed Racer was Jesus or anything thing, people raced, cars exploded, hero wins, Wachowski brother didn't get out of hand.
Tiny little thing that I didn't like was the fight scene, but it was reminiscent of how the frames of animation in the cartoon would have action lines and freeze after a punch connected.
Bottom line, if you were a kid at one point in time you need to see Speed Racer.

I thought it was the greatest thing to grace movie screens in a long time. I felt paralysed after it was over. I seriously, SERIOUSLY want to see it again.

Speed Racer was awesome. I went in expecting a moderately good movie, but it was a LOT better than I expected. Aside from the great adrenaline rushes that really pump you up, there was some powerful emotional impact during the climax toward the end, and that was what really sold me on the flick as a whole.
I was a little late in seeing this, so it's too bad I couldn't join the rest of the group, but I'm glad I got to see it regardless. If anyone is still interested in this and hasn't watched this, check it out before it leaves IMAX theatres. IMAX was made for this film.

To be honest, the emotional aspect was what I really liked about it too, even more than the action sequences, I barely felt those to be exciting, but they were interesting to watch. It was pretty much the relationship between him and his brother that got to me, it remind me of my brother. The whole scene at the beginning where he refuses to break his brother's record was to me the best part. The whole brothers theme that underlined the movie was what I really liked about it.
I can't believe so many critics gave it such a LOW rating, seriously, movies are expected to be made in a certain way TOO much, we need to stop thinking in the same way every time we see, or make, a movie.
