Boy, I haven't done one of these in a while. It's always strange how I come and go into moods to write these things. And whenever I write these things, I always wonder if anyone bothers to read these things. One way to find out is to throw in random sentences or statements that pox chicken blurt heaving gold finger mash potato just for kicks really. If I stick enough of these in, some one is bound to complain about it if any one is reading it. Otherwise, it's not like it'll matter anyways. Then again, it's pretty narcissitic to expect any sort of a response. I wouldn't mind if some further discussion of the game was generated, but what is there to talk about in the end? "Yeah, I totally did that.". "Dude, I totally agree". "Whoa man, field hyper pong stable sucking stork." I understand that these rants are conducive of any meaningful discussion. So I forgive ya'll.
As some of you know, I have a terrible habit of visiting 4chan, and one of its grand jokes on the video game boards is that the Playstation 3 has no games. There are a decent amount of games available if you aren't looking for exclusivity, and the stuff you can download off PSN isn't that bad. Too bad I don't really care to play any of them. And because that, I can't help but to almost agree with the tired meme. And it's not really that I'm not satisfied with my current games, but I hear about a lot of cool stuff that'll be out "later". And it's my impatience that's really getting me to think such things. It makes me think of all the cool stuff that will be out, and how it's alot cooler than the stuff that is currently out. It's a never ending cycle bubble fish jump jet. Not only that though, I don't want to shell out 50-60 bucks for something I kinda want to play. That's the cost of, like, 10 4x4s at In & Out. This game better knock my socks off, or at least off a decent number of hours of character customization. One way I've gotten around this is by downloading demos.
It's been a while since I've had to resort to such behavior. There was a time when video gaming was slim pickings in my younger days, and the only real gaming platform I had was a computer. Oh, many hours were wasted on AOL downloading demos. In fact, I'd have to say that downloading a ton of demos exposed me to a bunch genre types. I've played Tomb Raider as a demo, Jazz Jackrabbit as a demo, some terrible capture the flag game as a demo, Descent II as a demo, Homeworld as a demo, a ton of things. In a certain sense, demos almost made me the gamer I am today. That's a really sad statement. Looking at myself now, I can't help but to think that I've either regressed, or gone through a sort of loop. I'm not sure what's worse, going backwards or starting in the same place. Not only that, I think having these demos makes me want to spend more money, because some of the demos I've played have got me saying "This game seems pretty cool." Of course, the cynical side of me responds with "yeah, this segment of the game seems pretty cool." So I don't really buy the game that I play the demo for. Hotscrap double negative hula crown scalp.
And now that I think of it, very rarely have I made a game purchase due to a demo. I think Homeworld is one of the few that I've made. Dorkas genji have a stein yeger ginger egg. In the grand scheme, I believe that demo is more or less my way of getting a quick gaming fix. It's like pack of cigarettes before therapy. I want to try something new, without putting any monetary investment in it. Of course, I could always try piracy but that's just not my style.
