That's what I told Anta! I think we could play Mario and Link at the same time! I was actually thinking multiple games from the same marathon. For example, The Legend of Link, Link's Awakening, and Ocarina of Time could all be potentially played in the same room simultaneously. I wouldn't be much of a marathon anymore if the games were entirely unrelated. Well, the definition of a marathon is that we play them one after the other, not all at the same time. It wouldn't be much of a marathon either if we played different games in the same series at the same time. It's supposed to be a speed and endurance test. Anyway, we shouldn't get into the definitions of what makes what. Having two different series on two different screens will just make things interesting. It's already NOT a marathon since we will be switching players.

I wasn't trying to get technical with terms, here. I was putting emphasis on the theme of the marathon. I think having a theme is a good idea, such as a Legend of Zelda theme, etc.
Personally, I find it more interesting putting games from the same series side by side, kind of like a compare and contrast exercise. Also, the focus is narrower that way, and more realistic goals can be set.

I feel that the goal of this marathon is to have lots of fun and to see how far we can get in one video game series in a certain amount of time. It wouldn't make any sense if we had two different game series going at the same time.

What part of getting through two series doesn't make sense? Anyway I don't care. You guys sort it out.

...from the same series in succession and not be too concerned with whether or not we burn our eyes out playing a bunch of games within a short time period nor whether or not this marathon is being properly run because we are so focused on semantics." Laptop for Link's Awakening? Pfft, I can play that on my Game Boy. Regardless, I work next Tuesday, so I wouldn't be able to do anything until late. Also, with multiple systems, I don't see what's stopping us from playing multiple games at once. I used to have Link's Awakening too, but if someone else was playing it, I'd like to, you know, be able to spectate the game without straining my eyes that much more. I thought I was clear and certain on how I intended for all for all of this to go down, if you really have THAT much of a problem with how we approach this, talk to me. At the current moment, I'm more concerned with dates. Next Tuesday may not work, how about the 11th of August then? If not, everyone please post their available days between now and August 22. After a date has been set, after a place has been set, after I procure the equipment necessary; we may possibly talk about how you all want to approach this. One this is set in stone: a Zelda game will be played at some time between now and the middle of August.

... Are we missing the first part of Anta's post? I thought I was clear and certain on how I intended for all for all of this to go down, if you really have THAT much of a problem with how we approach this, talk to me. You pretty much gave us a general idea of a game marathon and left a lot open to speculation so... I don't think it's all that surprising that we're discussing how to go about this... What part of getting through two series doesn't make sense? Anyway I don't care. You guys sort it out. I think that it would be wise that we don't set our goals too lofty from the get go, particularly with this group's history of tackling large, drawn out projects...

I propose a swimming and bicycling segment.
A video game triathlon.

I endorse the singular franchise played sequentially. I think the term "marathon" is loaded with the idea of this being for sport while I think the true intention of this is to be a social gathering not unlike a movie marathon. The non-players waiting for their turn can then watch, feast on snacks, and tell the current player to use their grenades at inopportune times.

One of the main reasons I proposed playing multiple games at once was to minimize the "waiting for your turn" part. Though, I suppose if one game at a time ends up being the proposed method, I could live with it. I'll just have to find something else for me to do for a while.

Keep this in mind fellas: At the current moment, I'm more concerned with dates. Next Tuesday may not work, how about the 11th of August then? If not, everyone please post their available days between now and August 22. I think that discussing the content is great, but Mura wants dates, so you know, it can actually happen. Some of you have provided dates, but to those who haven't, I think it'd be better to give a day or days first before getting into a heated debate about what will be played. It would be sorta silly to plan for something you can't come to due to scheduling conflicts. Also, on a tangent, I think one game should be played at once with rotating players. If it's just a bunch of guys playing games in the same room with minimal interaction just focused on whatever they are engaged in the moment, it defeats the purpose of actually gathering as a group. Then again, I can't go, so whatever.

Regardless, August 11th should be a day off for me, so I would be okay for that date. In terms of alternate dates... I'm off July 29th, 31st and August 5th-6th. Also, I get off work at 2pm on July 26th, August 2nd, 4th, and 8th, if we had to resort to a workday. Other days up through the 8th I get off rather late which probably wouldn't be good for the event.

We'll set the date to August 11th. I'd like to start fairly early, so 8 or 9 o clock in the morning would be the time we got together. If anyone has any objections, please post them now. With that set aside, we can work on locations. Vampy made two posts that seemed to hint availability, does anyone want to outright volunteer a place to hang while this is going down? I've scrapped my plans to travel so I'm open for whenever. I'm sorry to hear that, what happened?

My place is always an option, if we need one. On a weekday like the proposed date, the more spacious living room is free to utilize while the parents are at work.

Yeah, we can definitely do it at my place, all day till around 6 pm. I can bring out my little TV from my room as well.

If you want to fully volunteer your place, then we'll use it. Incidentally, the little TV idea was a pretty nice touch for the old school theme. We probably should consider using it as the primary view instrument for our gathering.
So far, it looks like this is going to go down on August 11th at 9 o clock at Vampyre Heathen's house. If there are any objections, go ahead and talk to me, and we'll try to work it out.
