It may seem logical to post a general thread in the main forum, but I'm tired and delusional, so I wanted to spend a moment to talk about a holiday that does kinda get pushed into the background. I assert this because I'm hearing Christmas music on the radio. In fact, I started hearing Christmas music, and seeing Christmas decorations as early as the beginning of this month. It's a fairly low-key holiday with a simple intended goal of having us show our appreciation for the good things in our lives.
They say that there is a direct correlation between gratitude in "little things" and happiness. "Little things" can be defined as a minor influence in your life like blue skies or the act of stopping to smell the roses. It could be a friendly smile a strangers face, or tying your shoe for the first time. For each person, everyone has some little thing that makes them happy, but I tend to find that it sorta differs from person to person, which makes sense. Perhaps it has something to do with living life in a simple and carefree manner, or maybe it has something to do with being blissfully ignorant of major problems that occur around you. Whatever the case may be, I wanted to spend a bit of time giving thanks to those things that I never notice, but still affect my life in a subtle but significant way.
Of course, I'm still going to give thanks to majorly important things in my life (family, friends, home, decent standard of living, ect.). But I still wanted to take time out to think about all the factors in my life what they do to me directly. Good or bad, whatever it is, it plays a part making me the person I am.
And so, to those who choose to read this, perhaps take a quick and quiet moment, just 60 seconds, to thank not only major influences and factors in your life, but those "little things" in life, whatever they may be for you.
And Happy Thanksgiving.
