Yeah, I don't know why the movie references "Howard the Duck" when Lucas niether director nor wrote the script. Then again, William Huyck (who directed and co-written the movie) did work with George on "American Graffiti" and "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom." Still a stretch.
He didn't know she was his sister because it is a reference to Luke and Leia. I thought that part was pretty obvious.
