This doesn't include an error message, more like just a networking
problem. Me and my roomate, both with legal copies of starcraft, cannot
play in the same game with others without a great amount of lag. We
decided to test around to see what we could find:
1.) We can play seperate games on battle.net completely lag free; i.e.
my roomate is playing in one game, and I am playing in another; same
realm (US west) though.
2.) We can play together, 1 vs 1, completely lag free, over battle.net
3.) However, when we play together with other players on battle.net,
lag is created. When either one of us drops, the lag is completely
removed. We have tried this with multiple people with good connections and
have noticed the same thing: We can't play together with others in the
same game, and once one of us quits, the lag is gone.
We don't have a software firewall, but we have a router. We cannot
access the router because it is on campus, and thus cannot forward any
ports, ect, if that was contributing to the problem.
Thank you very much for your help,
Sincerely,

Hello Sean,
Unless you have arranged for your internet service provider to provide
you with a second IP address, chances are your computers are sharing an
internet connection, and thus an internet IP address. Neither Diablo,
Warcraft II: Battle.net Edition, nor StarCraft support multiple
computers with the same internet IP address connecting to the same game on
Battle.net. Battle.net is unable to split the game data between the two
computers effectively in these cases. You may be able to contact your
internet service provider to get an additional IP address to solve this
problem.
