Seems like another version of the Robin Hood story. Was there something particularly controversial about this version or the making of this version?

Nothing controversial actually, its just that it was a really uncertain project in the works that went through a lot of changes. Initially, the studio wanted Bale and Crowe to team up again and do a more realistic true to life adaptation in which Robin Hood was actually a bad guy and Nottingham was the good guy.

Well it was brought to my attention by a fellow animation student. He usually posts offbeat student films or short animations of note. Still, the whole epic journey to the west theme surpassed my expectations in terms of awesomeness and scale.

It is a pretty cool animation. One thing I will say though, it seems strangely familiar. I can't help but to think I've seen that style somewhere.

I was going to mention Tank Girl, by Jamie Hewlett, who is the person who illustrates and animates The Gorillaz. It's funny that you mentioned them because I've had Dirty Harry stuck in my head.
