Yes, our comic, the one that we've been doing for what, years now?
Years spent, yet we've got nothing to show for it (pretty much). This... cannot be!
As much as I like to be laid back (I mean, this is a side project for fun), it pains me that we're all of nowhere.
But we have a plotline! And website designed, although it's without a host, I kept the files and it is still there! We've got storyboards and the end mapped out! Characters developed! Got a decent forum for discussion, I mean, all and all, we've got ourselves a good foundation.
However, for what we have, we've got a lot of nothing. Not a single page written, not a serious post on the plotline thread in over a month, nothing, nada, zilch, zero. It's not just the fact that nothing is being drawn (at a real, appreciable rate) but actual talk of the comic is pretty much dead. I think it's safe to say interest in this has dropped as fast as a some sort of crappy metaphor. And, at the current rate, we'll have nothing! This is very distressing to me! It's like a toy model, sitting half painted, half glued, sorta sitting there in a bizarre aborted funk.
Eventually, there comes a time when one either chucks the model, or decides to finish the damn thing in earnest (this, after years of it sitting under a bed). I think I want to get somewhere with what we got instead of letting it atrophy until it's swept under the carpet or forgotten in the garage. Lord knows, as time goes on, we'll have less time to actually work on this thing.
I want to at least get this done as a short story, if nothing else. But damn it, I think SOMETHING should come out of this, and within a reasonable time scale.
In other words, I want us to do a bit of accountability. With any project a certain degree of time needs to be put into it, or it just never gets done. Considering our current “staff” seems preoccupied with things here and there, would any of the rest of you want to join this and help take it somewhere?
Basically this thing was set up as a collaborative story/comic effort (at least in theory). The thought being that together we could create something sorta cool that would be interesting for others that we ourselves could enjoy as well. Currently the only one with ants in their pants is me, really. And with me bringing up the plotline turning into a “HUR HU HA HO GUILD WARS” sort of shenanigans, I think something needs to change. I know the rest of you are definitely imaginative and such, and it wouldn't hurt having some active members for a change.
Bottom line is that this project has gone stagnant as hell and has become a sort of running joke. I don't like that, because it started out as a project with merit. So now I'm going to clean house a bit and ask who wants to take part in the project and who doesn't. By take part I mean actually caring about it; this is all voluntary, and is supposed to be fun. If no one is interested, fine. But either we're doing to the damn comic or we're not, and I want to know who's in and who's out. If you don't want to work on the project, fine, I never remember forcing anyone to. But here I am, pushing the reset button. If this felt like a burdensome obligation to you, here's your get out of jail free card.
Whoever is interested, say so here. Whoever isn't, well, isn't. If no one is I'll just take the plot and finish writing it as a short story of sorts. If there are others, maybe we can make something extraordinary, or at least very entertaining, out of our collective imaginations.
This isn't meant to be abrasive or anything, but I think it's high time the fate of all this is decided; might as well be now.
