Anyone remember these series of books? The drawings scared the crap out of me when I was younger and they kinda creep me out to this day. I'm downloading what I assume to be an archive of all the images made by Stephen Gammell's work for the books. Or it's pornographic versions of the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark pictures. I'll tell you which one it is when I finish downloading it.

Ah, nevermind, it's the books themselves on rapidshare. Guess I'm going to have to read them later.

When I read the title of this thread, I though you were going to have us post paranormal stories we know. And since I love those things, I know tons of them. But now, I'm not so happy anymore. Anyway, yeah, those books were cool, my nephew showed me one recently, I was surprised the school lets them read books with such creepy pics in them.

Well, Adrian, we can turn this thread into that. Storytelling is always fun, and if urban dead is any sign, maybe we're good at doing horror themed stuff? I dunno, but hey, I'm sure mura wouldn't mind if some grim tales of fright and fiction were told. Possibly non fiction.

Given the rate we divert from a topic thread anyways, it's not like the world would explode if you decided to tell a ghost story. Unless it was a story so scary, it would make the world explode.

Well now, here is my first post of many, which will not be as much in story form as they will be in anecdote form. So sit down, turn the off the lights and prepare to feel shivers down your spine and a certain sparkle in your imagination, tonight's subject includes: THE STARCHILD! As you look at this picture, I am sure many questions are running through your head. What is this thing? Where does it come from? Is it even human? The answer is, at the moment, debatable. But the story of the origin of this skull begins, like so many great pieces of folklore and urban legend, in the country side of Mexico, more specifically the town of Chihuahua, Chihuahua around the year 1930. It was some 100 miles southwest of this town that there existed a mine, which had for some reason been abandoned for a while before it was reopened for business once more. It was in the depths of this mine that the miners and workers found what is now confirmed to be the remains of a woman, a skeleton half buried in the earth. But was more dazzling and spine-chilling to the men, was that beneath this body they found another one, and this one seemed to belong to a child, yet its head was remarkably bigger than an adult's, as you can see in the picture above. The skull eventually came to the possession of an amateur anthropologist in 1999, who then had some carbon dating and DNA tests performed on it to determine its biological origins. The resulting Carbon-14 tests placed the the skull at an estimated age of 900 years. The DNA tests however concluded that only one of the child's parents... was human. What the other parent was remains debatable, but many speculate that it was of Alien origin, most likely, a Gray. Which means that this child was a hybrid child. For many years Ufologists have theorized that this is the purpose that Grays abduct human beings, to create a hybrid race in order to continue the blood of their dying one. Is this "starchid" the first of many? And if so, could it be possible that the grays have perfected their method so that the hybrids look more human? And if so, could they be living among us? You decide.

Yeah, they exist. I talked to one the other day. I asked him how he was and he repied, "I'm feeling a bit blue."

Tonight's paranormal story continues with the ever popular subject of extraterrestrials. For many of those who have seen Signs, you may care to remember the scene in which a news broadcast shows how an alien was captured on film during a Brazilian boy's birthday party. For those who have not seen this scene or would like to watch it again, click the following link at your own risk. www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5BYVx0rJVMSure, it is Hollywood at its best. But this incident was actually based on the real life events that took place in a small Brazilian town and has come to be known as: THE VARGINHA INCIDENT It is what many have begun to call "Brazil's Roswell" and happened at the turn of the year in January 1996, where an a strange creature, described as a "biped about 1.6m, with a large head and very thin body, with V-shaped feet, brown skin, and large red eyes" was the first to be sighted out of many by two sisters and a female friend. Before actually seeing the creature, which to them appeared to walk as if it were injured or sick, the three women were tipped off by a horrible "ammonia-like" odor. Upon seeing the creature, the three women where horrified and fled the place--the two sisters running home to tell their mother the incredible tale, which she didn't believe at first until being led to the same area where the creature was seen and smelling the appalling oder herself. Almost immediately the rumors of this strange creature spread throughout the whole village and soon thereafter the events described caught the attention of Brazil's Military Intelligence--S2. Throughout the month people reported seeing strange aircraft in the skies and more creatures of the like wandering the transitional lines between town and rain forest. The events reached a climax when the villagers soon found one of their roads to be completely closed off by S2, where, reportedly, and alien body had been found lying across the asphalt. A small Mini-van size UFO was later recovered. The body was sent to a local hospital under strict military surveillance and examined. Though the government officially denied any of the events had occurred, theses statements were later debunked by the sighting of more UFOs throughout the region, including many close encounters. Had the Brazilian government truly come into possession of an alien aircraft? It is hard to deny the truth when so many witnesses had reported seeing these events.
