hahaha goatse!!! EEEW. I've had some experience on the ucla forum boards. Somebody posted that wonderful picture when some b-yaaaaaaatcheeeeeee was whining about her bf being gay.
Anyhow that comic looks hilarious. I'm on it.
I love forums. My only aim is to get the highest post count.

I'm on the highway to hell....lalala. Heh, at this point I welcome you our language filters... it's not really because we mind language, but we like using analogs. For example, the cartoon "rocket power" is pure S-h-i-t , so it's replaced as such as an acceptable synonym that conveys even more than the regular word. Yes, it is riddickulous, but it can have some other, more entertaining uses... Interviews have gone cold for now disturbingly, bloody sucks. As far as the GRE, I heard some questions come outta left feild sometimes. What the hell courses do you need to take that test to know all the crap on there. Ah, and for marine bio, you guys talk about the sea slug "aplysia" yet. That sucker's nervous system is talked about in excruciating detail in some of my classes. If I see a sea slug in real life I'ma gonna step on that bastard. Do you guys talk about plant life, or just animal life? Yes, I know nothing! |

hah, yeah I like your system altho dunno what rocket power is. My soul has not been scarred by it. yet.
GRE is so..wierd. I started with the princeton..bad bad idea. Kaplan has a lot more info. But i figure I'm screwed anyway. I can ace the ecology and probaby the cell bio bit thanks to the course i am currently enrolled in. biochem..maybe but i remember BS. organsmic/anatomy..shit i learnt back in 12th grade...so thats guessable.
immunology and the nervous system= dunno crap.
lets see... my priority is to maintain gpa...and then gre. but its so hard for my ego to deal with that concept.
we have 20 scientific papers to read + 6 chapters in a book to learn by midterm on nov 4th. gah and he emphasises on the paper. so yea worse comes to worse i'll retake the gre later..and ask them to null this one.

by he i meant the marine bio guy. well..lol, not yet. we are still in the biogeography/oceanography and talking about areas where there is max activity=biological abundance. right now kind of talking about plankton and zooplankton. so we are still in the herbivoreprimary producer area of the ocean ecosystem. the guy who teaches the class: W. Hamner is supposeldy pretty famous..he invented bluewater diving or something. So he was studying abundance of fish eggs offin santa monica bay and he counlt really sample them so he started shooting all the birds that were flying around that area , obviously gorging on an aggregation of fisg eggs. "I took my shotgun and killed those BONEers" he's awesome. edit: BONE its raining reaaaaaly bad here...omg the wind..i want my momee. ah you should have applied to a med school in hawai'i  |

Heh, you should eventually take immuno, really is useful, expecially when it comes to learning about the fun world of stains. I have a love hate relationship with that course. On one hand, it's really important. On another, so many stupid tiny details and many interconnected cascades. As far a neuro, what do they ask? Simple synapses or do they get into layered organization and all that crap? The GRE seems horridly freakin' broad though. The MCAT was bad enough, and they only asked eco, biochem, genetics, physiology, a small bit of anatomy and endrocinology, and ochem. Adding a bunch of other crap seems pretty damn sadistic. Do they just throw every branch of bio at you, hoping you wouldn't know something? I fail to see why an ecologist would need to know about EPSPs, and vice versa. I swear, I wanna ring these test maker's throats... As far as your prof, anyone who use shotguns on seabirds kicks ass. He has come there to chew bubblegum and kick bird-ass. And he's all outta bubblegum. Yes, and BONE is a disease here. I'll send you the reason for it one of these days. Anyway, I gotta stupid midterm in the morrow for seminar. well they don't expect you to answer everything. it is a broad test for a variety of programs...which is why it's hard.
oh yeah we also have endocrinology and all that whatever you mentioned. probably not as much in detail.
nervous system..hmm based on princeton its was basic struture and the signaling, the neurotransmitters and whoat goes where etc. damn i can't even remember.
i know the really simple structure of a neuron and thats it. i dont know why acetocholine is helpful and what it does...and they want us to know that.
it's a bad exam...can't even take wild guesses..friggin negative marks. sniff. ok getting tense. back to some bedside reading of kaplan.
i miss organic chem. i was thinking of taking a physical chem class here and gave the idea up and decided to take a film class instead. i rock, don't i?
edit: i'm taking parasitolgy next quarter, can't wait to take it. it's a lab course too. yippie!!
