This is going to be a log of sorts, not just for me but I hope everyone. The goal of this thread is to keep track of various projects that we all have going on (or want to start), what their progress is, what stands in the way of their progress or needed materials, and the chance to get some feedback on them.
In addition, this is to liven up our rather mute board at the moment.
So for myself:
Project one: Personal Mod Database
Aim: Create a listing of reviews for good mods of various games, maintain both a physical and online library of them that others can easily access, and how to install them and resolve common conflicts, as well as compatible addons with the mod.
Reason: No site really has a nice "summary" of mods. Moddb is sort of a catch all with "reviews" I can't really trust, and once installed, I have to go hunting around on how to get them to work. This would be an easy go-to source for which mods are actually worth playing as well as how to get them to work, at least in regards to the vanilla game. At the very least, if I ever have to do a reinstall, I know where to get them and how to get them to work.
Possibilities for collaboration: I know at the very least Mura and Vivi play PC games around the same frequency as myself, so their input would be greatly appreciated.
Current status: Currently I have the files; that's about it.
Addendum: Would be nice to do this for other media as well, like comics, music, shows, etc.
=================================
Project two: RPG system
Aim: Creating an adaptable RPG system that is fun, simple, and intuitive that would facilitate interactive story telling. In that order, I will try to cull the best features of various RPG systems and merge them.
Reason: DnD's combat is boring, at least in my opinion. Too many rolls, a multitude of rules that get ignored anyway, and a lack being truly intuitive (in other words, we can't "figure out" the rules on the fly). Also, it is clunky when you would try to adapt it to non-medieval games. The ideal interface would create a game system that would lay out a basic skeleton for ANY game, with rules that could sensibly made by the game master/DM on the fly.
Collaboration: Ideas and game testing is always welcome, as are complete altered systems from my own.
Current Status: I've essentially ripped off Fallout's SPECIAL system because I think it covers all the bases of what one would need IMHO. With that, I've added the dice centric ideas and "difficulty levels" of DND. Furthermore, in my game I've eliminated experience and "levels" so to speak, with abilities being acquired in game by player actions.
For example, Mura and Vivi were cave spelunkers. Through their dialouge I gave them certain "perks". So, through personality, Mura was a mysoginist of sorts, so I gave him -1 to Charisma and +1 to Strength, while Vivi was very obsevant, so I have him a +1 to perception. In regards to actions, Mura liked to use knives, so I gave him a +1 to str/dex after he used knives a few times.
Basically, the whole concept of "levels" are very artificial and create an odd, unnatural pacing IMHO. Things you couldn't do are suddenly available en mass. In this system, it would follow a more natural progression of events. This also eliminates the "anticipation" of a level; i.e. more focus is on the story instead of "HOW MUCH EXP! I WANNA GET TO LEVEL 3 SO I CAN SHOOT FIREBALLS OUTTA MY ASS!".

Project three: Getting the forums alive again
Aim: It's like one post a week here. We need action!
Reason: I like our forum when it's active.
Collaboration: No, you guys CAN'T HELP. On a serious note, I miss Mura/MW/Patrick's little reviews, articles and such, Vivi should post his art more often, Patrick should keep uploading music packs, Vamp should post more images and the like, and Mrs V, shorty, and Dex should actually... post!
Also, and I know this is hard, but getting other interesting folks we know to post. More (to some degree) to merrier. An active community of 20 members (who don't suck) would be ideal.
Current Status:
=================================
Project four: Getting a server up
Aim: A server for us that we can host files on to share, or host images on.
Reason: Imageshack just does images of certain sizes, rapidshare/megaupload/etc require wait times, waits between downloads, and catch phrases. Also, a place where we can archive files in case of computer crashes.
Collaboration: Anyone who wants to help
Current status: We actually have the hardware, just need to figure out the software/hosting end.
=================================
Project five: Backing the boards up
Aim: Just that. Backup all our messages (or at least the good threads) in notepad, images, or some form that's offline and can be archived independent of proboards iteslf.
Reason: We have a lot of good stuff here, which can all get lost in some unfortunate accident someday. While the admins say that they have backups, shit happens.
Collaboration: Ooooh yeah, gonna need it. Either for saving itself, or "flagging" the good threads to be saved, in some form or another.
Current status: just thought of it, heh....
=================================
Project six: Adventure Chronicles
Aim: Commit to writing the text adventures we have
Reason: Because sometimes they have comedy gold nestled inside, or are just plain fun otherwise.
Collaboration: Of course. Add to it as you see fit.
Current status: Posted the thread, in progress. Would like to add the actual content of the stories later on.
