Hello everyone! I've made this thread to review and comment art. However, I have only one thing to post and after that we probably won't use this thread again, unless others want to post their work as well. Welcome everyone's drawing and things.

I'd do it if I had a scanner. Didja put up that pic yet?

Here is something that I have been working on. I am trying to create my own style and would please like some comments and suggestions. The photo of the painting came out a little darker than I would have liked but it will do.

Heh, makes sense. I wonder if there's a good way to effectively take pics without losing out on some of the quality due to odd lighting. (Though it is a possibility that you intended one side to be darker than the other. Was that an intentional effect?)

Hardly. I had lighting to the side of the picture which I guess I should have centered. Well I don't know much about the presentation of paintings.

I was tempted to call the painting "Patji" but I knew "someone" might be opposed to that idea.

Maybe a scanner would have worked better. Eh, I didn't want to get anything on the front. Oh well.

Hehe, well, I think it's cool regardless. I don't know the character too well unfortunately, so I can't say how accurate the depiction is, but I find it aesthetically appealing overall. The pastel colors and the boney skull and kitchen utensils thing gives it a nice comical touch. Though I admit, it might be just me, but his mouth seems a bit off. I guess you were trying to make him look up slightly, but it just seems a bit higher than it should be. It could be just me of course.
I suppose you could try a scanner, or maybe you could find a nice white backdrop to take the picture on?

Actually I was trying to make him "pucker-up" (which suits his character), of course I couldn't make it as emphasized as I really wanted it to be. I got tired of messing with it so that is how it turned out. Yeah I think it came out satisfactory for my first portait. Thank you for the comments.

No problem. Feel free to post more stuff too. I'll be glad to review and comment on it if you want me to.

THAT IS AWESOME.
You seriously made him look like Patrick.
You should do portraits like that for the other characters, too! I'd love to see Usopp, especially. Heh heh heh.

After I finished this one I was planning on doing portaits of all of them. Well at least, Luffy, Zolo, Usopp and Nami . However I think I will need some suggestions for those.

YOU THINK HE IS UGLY?! My first inspiration for this form of Sanji was Googly. So I think you should be alot nicer next time.

LOL, it's just the facial expression. Besides, you know I appreciate ugly. I think it's awesome.

Very nice, you certainly picked up watercolor quick. I think my favorite part is the eye, some nice detail there.
If you want criticism though, I think you could use deeper shadows. I'm noticing under the collar especially, but even places like under the chin or the hairline would benefit from it. Deeper shadows, even if they're small, can really make certain aspects of your picture stand out and add extra depth to it. My ol' teacher Russ would say it makes the picture really "pop," heh The picture is great as is, and I wouldn't ask you to go trying to change it now if it would be too difficult, but maybe you could keep it in mind for the future, heh.
All in all though, great work.
