I've got all transition songs and I need fillers to bridge 'em.

Mixtape #1 3/22/2007 A Night's Dreams The premise of this mix playlist is the documentation of one night's sleep; before, after, and in between. Each songs either represents a stage of sleep or a dream encountered in this fictional tale of slumber. Needless to say, every song shares a dream-like quality that is specific to it's purpose. Hope You guys enjoy. 1. " Paul Is Dead" - Yo La Tengo Ever been kept barely awake while you try to get back to your house so that you can finally hit that bed you've been thinking about after a long day's work? This song represents this. That half-awake longing for a pillow and the sheets. 2. "Loomer" - My Bloody Valentine Once asleep, the brain goes through the REM (or rapid eye movement) stage of sleep. MBV's Loomer perfectly describes the experience. The careening distortion that is the My Bloody Valentine sound paints the eyes darting from image to image. Being both highly active but calm and relaxed at the same time almost like a vale to to the rest of the night's dreams. 3. "Dreams" - Sebadoh That's it, REM done and you're now dreaming. This is the theme song of the mix. Best to imagine this song from an out of body perspective upon yourself sleeping. In my dreams, I react as my true self. 4. "Concertina" - The Mars Volta Time for the dreams to begin. The first one is easy to understand. Obviously an indignation of an acquaintance at some point of you're day ( are you listening?, don't you pretend.). 5. "Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors" - Radioohead Now this song is about your job and the endless shuffling of papers that it entails. You're running around sorting and moving papers with gibberish written on them (lyrics being glimpses of this gibberish?). However, you never seem to finish at the hands of the seemingly infinite filing cabinets before you. 6. "Plateau" - Meat Puppets Now this dream is of, obviously enough, of a plateau. However, there seems to be something about the plateau that seems more important than what it seems, like a metaphor of life. You'll be pondering this dream later when you're awake. 7. "Hello Skinny" - The Residents Now this dream makes absolutely no sense and is striking in its absurdity. But like any dream, you move through it like it is perfectly normal. 8. "Concertina (live)" - The Mars Volta Now we all have reoccurring dreams and Concertina is one of these. Strangely, though, this time feels much more realistic. 9. "Poledo" - Dinosaur Jr. This one barely counts as a dream as it is entirely subconscious meanderings that borderlines on a frustrated nightmare. The stuff pushed so far deep that it just needs to pop up somewhere. Frightening but necessary and cathartic. 10. "The Tooth Fairy And The Princess" - Husker Du As your night of dreaming turns into early morning with the sun peeping through your window, you are slowing becoming more and more aware that you'll have to wake up soon but you don't want to ( don't get up) despite the inevitable progress of time ( give in). 11. "Little Eyes" - Yo La Tengo The beeps in the beginning of the song are your alarm clock going off. This is the dreary but optimistic beginning of your day but not entirely without wish for more sleep ( crawl back into bed). www.sendspace.com/file/j2ubfc

I was listening to this on my headphones. Poledo was scary.

This is pretty fun to listen to. I'm actually imagining how it would look like if it were a movie.

I'm thinking between a pure rocking out mix, a distortion-appreciation mix, or an optimistic life-affirming mix.
Probably the last one as I don't think the distortion-appreciation will be all that appreciated.

Incidentally, it sounds like something that would be great to do last if you already had all the ones you intended to make planned out. Regardless, I'll certainly be looking forward to the next one, what it is.

Well the distortion mix would feature less songs that I've already uploaded in one way or another.
Maybe I'll just do you're suggestion with that one first and end with life-affirming.

Screw it. I'll do it as a split of distortion and atonal. Get those out of the way for the curious.

Do the rocking out one, and find a way to put in two of the greatest rock out songs of all time, One-Armed Scissor and Inertiatic ESP. Also, I need something to work out to.

I've decided to continue with my distortion/atonal mix since it is farther along.
