That's right. Everyone's got their reviews, witty articles, webcomics (lol?), etc. so I figured I'd put my creative juices to work (apart from on the ladies *nudge nudge*). So in this thread, I'll post playlist mixes that fit a theme and I'll explain them in detail. The goal of this being to semi-publish some of these mixes that I constantly make and delete as well as turn some of you on to new music that isn't videogame soundtracks, anime tunes, Nickelback, or whatever.
This week: A mixtape that documents a night's sleep. Stay tuned (or untuned if you like it dissonant).

I knew my love for King Crimson and Yes is too anime for you. Sorry In any case, it certainly sounds like fun. I'll move it over to the University when you get the first one up. I'm looking forward to it. Though now that I think about it, you'd be able to move it also.

Well, I'll certainly give them a listen, but my taste for good music might restrict my enjoyment of them (as you insinuated yourself, googly).
We shall see.

I am probably more susceptiable to conforming then Andrew or Anta but heed my testimony. Two of Pat's recommendations had very positive effects on me. Actually, three. The Breeders, Throwing Muses and Dinosaur Jr. Sometimes I force myself to like certain songs and others just grow on me. But I can honestly tell you that these bands had me on the first date. And not for just a one-night-stand like some other bands are made up to do when they build up a fan base of attraction and infatuation. They had me at their music and that's what matters. And I don't mind being chewed out about this at all. So thanks Pat.

Why would you ever force yourself to like a song you don't like?

It's like a Monet. The first time you see it, it looks all kinds of weird/awful but then you go back and it evertually clicks.
Next thing you know, it's your favorite painting (or song in this instance).
Instant gratification = overrated.

Heh, that almost sounds like saying the awe-inspiring nature of the Sistine Chapel ceiling makes it shallow.

Which makes me wonder, why did you bring up Monet anyways? Did you share an experience like that, or was it a bit more abritrary?

Why would you ever force yourself to like a song you don't like? I wanted to like songs that other people liked because I wanted to have a strong opinion about something. But lately, I've started to appreciate my own uniqueness. And I worry less which I think was one of the key factors that kept me from being out-going.

I've always wished you'd appreciate yourself a little more.

I think it's just a common phrase that I believe I heard but unfortunately forgot which painter. Maybe it's Van Gogh?? I loved Monet since the first time a saw a piece. But I could also see why people wouldn't like Monet. Impressionists can piss off some of the more strict realists.

I just figured Degas would be a better example, but if it's a saying, can't do much if you can't remember it. Anyways, hows the mixtape coming along?
