Is it just me or are they trying to screw up as many classics as possible?

They're only screwing up classics if you're a pessimist.

What are you talking about Vivi? Rap artists have always screwed up classics.
IE: Another one Bites the Dust Under Pressure The Ocean Crazy Train Walk this Way, (oh nevermind, not a classic but you get the point foo'!)

Seeing that the rights to sampling the original songs are required before releasing those, technically didn't the original artists (assuming they retain control) screw them up?
Anyways, thank you for taking something funny and whinning about it.

Anyways, thank you for taking something funny and whinning about it. Actually, artists are allowed to 'Sample' music from anywhere within a Recording Company's repetoire. it all depends on who owns the licenses, and most of the time it's not the artist. And even if they were licensed from another publisher, who says the original artist didn't need money?

Then why are you bitching if the original artists are making money (if they own the license as you said)? Besides, all of those songs use the samples for brackground or for the chorus. It's not like they're completely remixing the song.

Don't you get it? It's not about whether or or not the artist makes money, or if it's used only in the chorus or in the background. The point is that it loses its aesthetic if it gets used all over again. Taking samples clearly shows lack of inspiration and in some cases the absense of talent. Look at P. Diddy, for instance, he took so many songs from other artists. I don't think he's ever played an instrument in his life. Sure, even J Page played Kashmir for him, that doesn't mean his judgement was correct and that it worked out well. There's always a difference between what you envision and what you produce. C'mon, I'm not shooting down your Q-unit link or anything. Why do you always have to take all this joke crap seriously? This is like the second time. Out of two times! This might even just be me and Sean agreeing on something, you don't have to heed our opinions. So YOU stop bitching about things, that was just a little comment, and now I had to write this to explain it to your sorry ass. And It's not that I didn't find the Q-unit thing funny, cuz there's no way it can't be. But seriously, allow us to also express our views of what we think of sampling.

I'm not stopping you from giving your opinion... where have I done that?
I was just playng the devil's advocate. Arguing for argument's sake.
You should know that I would never defend P. Diddy. However, other artists can sample classics without sucking them up. Rev Run's "Mind on the Road" uses Joan Jett's "I Love Rock N’ Roll" quite well. I thought the possibility for good sampling of classic songs was a worthy thing to defend.
Oh, and I apologize for saying that you were whinning. Brain is a bad influence on me.
