Some fuckstick stole my cellphone Saturday, right in front of the god damned hospital, that useless wanker, whoever it is. When I call my phone (and I lift my service suspension), either let it ring, or they answer in some sort of crowded place and hang up. I was hoping they would have pawned it by now, but in the depths of their ignorance they are hanging on to a phone that can't make calls, and can't do that much else for that matter without its attachments. The mind boggles. I've never wanted to do bodily harm so badly to someone. I think I'll give up on them now being a shitwad, so I'm gonna pick up some cheap phone somewhere. Never had anything stolen in The Bronx, had my phone stolen the first week in SF. Ironic on some level, don't you think? That's terrible. But I do wonder what the hell do they actually want with the phone if it isn't cash. Regardless, I'll admit. It never occurred to me that your phone was stolen. When I heard the disabled service message, I thought it was a temporary service hiccup, or being constantly bombarded calls and making calls caused your dad to stop service on the phone. Well, go ahead and give me a call when you get your new phone.

Wow, just like that? Incredibly prick stealing a phone outside of a hospital considering the likelihood it would be needed for on-call. Then again, given the very act of stealing a person's phone, expecting that level of consideration might be too generous. Apart from that, has there been any thing positive so far in your stay in SF or has it all been shitty?

This was a speedbump in an otherwise rewarding stay. Three blocks from my house is food heaven to me, with a slew of Thai, Indian, Vietnamese, and Chinese food, with corresponding specialty markets.
Beats the hell out of the sludge where I live. If I see another pastrami on rye...
I use the trolly/muni/whateveryouwanna call it to get to UCSF (N Judah). While it gets the job done, the buses and subways in NYC are far more reliable, and I wind up hoofing it half the time.

For anyone at all interested, here is the graphic novel that my cousin wrote that was featured at Comic Con. valoraofficial.com/Need to do an email verification to be able to download a PDF of the first comic. I haven't read it myself but thought I would pass it along.

Huh, and the topic to the previous chapter in my middle school classes were giant squids. I mostly just told them about the Kraken.

Interesting story on multiple levels:
"Scientists believe they coordinate attacks by using pigment cells to communicate."
That's really cool. I wonder if they do it by either color coded (light colors mean one thing, dark, another), or by a morse code like pattern (on/off/long switches in combination for different messages).
The second issue to consider: "Experts believe they may be taking advantage of warmer waters due to climate change. The threat to fisheries and marine ecosystems is explained in the documentary."
Never really gave that much regard in reference to climate change. This is like introducing invasive non-native species into an ecosystem, however we didn't even have to bring anything in directly. It's funny how temperature sensitive aquatic life is, that a few changes in degrees causes upheavals like this and death of coral reefs. While life is so robust in general, quite fragile in other ways.
Edit: Although it may be of note to, as usual, consider the veracity of any article. A commenter noted: "The Humboldt squid is a well-known denizen of the Humboldt Current, a COLD water current in the eastern Pacific. They are not particularly interested in warm water. If the little buggers have been moving lately, I'd suspect global cooling to be the culprit, if anything. They have been moving in large numbers into the Sea of Cortez and the waters off California for at least the last decade. "
I wonder though if there is a way to reconcile the two points (Migration to warmer waters, natural habitat being cold), or if one is flat out wrong.

Well, I don't know how good this paper is, we could chalk up to simple research mistake or editing mistake. That being said, maybe they're slowing adapting to warmer waters?
