The anime film Whisper of the Heart. While it isn't an outstanding clip, English voice acting for young boys was pretty dang bad practically everywhere I checked. This is very good by comparison. Heh, if only you could get Nancy Cartwright to do the voice of Punk. Well I was going to attach a zip of my storyboards but I've realized that they're far too big (the attachment limit can only fit something like one page), and I'm too lazy to really feel like posting them individually. I would also rather not put it anywhere in public where it could easily be discovered. Any decent suggestions for sharing alternatives? Really? How big is it? Maybe you could set up some kind of private account on one of them file share servers?

One of these days I'll get our private file server up, when I'm not on a university or hospital owned connection and I'm actually making money. As far as where to upload that isn't public, I suggest that you compress them into an archive (winzip, 7zip, winrar to create a .zp .rar .7zip, etc container) and put a password on it. As a group we actually have a number of shared passwords (that we used for games or the website when we had it) that we could use for the code. For file sharing, I'm partial to mediafire, as it has the least bullshit compared to their rivals. Once you upload a file, you can make it private share only. I look forward to seeing your work. Nice voice by the way, it fits the character.

Alright, Mediafire was down for a while, but now that it's back I was able to get the file up. This upload contains all of my storyboard pages, as well as a test animatic to simulate the timing and show pans, etc. The animatic is very subject to change, though, and I expect the timing in the final version to be considerably different as I refine things. Download the .rar file here: www.mediafire.com/?1unm11w8wiwdci3Pass is "slaughter" Let me know what you think.

Heh, if you make the file "private", it actually restricts us from downloading; only you can download your own private folders. Sorry about that, I was mistaken on their sharing policies. The password on the rar can stay, of course.

Okay, I finally had a chance to look at your reel. Given the fact that this is for testing of timing and panning, I guess I can't say too much about it. I do like the pan from the topside into the platform that where Punk is working. Also, I liked how you included the shot that hints at the potential effect of what could happen on page 15b. That surprised fellow amused me for some reason. On non-timing and panning related notes (which I guess could be null given that these could change in the future) I think that Punk could be a very cool character in a grander adventure (but that be saved for another time), and it seems like you captured a decent amount of emotion with little dialogue, especially with the facial expressions on page 8 panel 4 and page 12 panel 3. If you can get capture the animation of the steam, and it'll look pretty damn cool. Also, I imagine the ending to be much more dramatic than depicted, but I it's light-hearted and funny, and it works well enough.
Now, for nit-picks and suggestions(which once again, don't know how relevant these can be with scope of these storyboards). I don't know how these storyboard works exactly, but I figured that every page is a scene, and it seems a lot of the angles you're using are showing off his left side. Also, with the watch teetering on the egdge, maybe you can force a perspective to make it at least seem farther than it actually is to sorta heighten the drama.
That's all I've got for now. If I can think of anything else, I'll be sure to drop a suggestion.

It's a big film "no no" to suddenly shift the camera to different sides of the scene/focus. Aside from the fact that it will make Punk appear to have turned around, the effect quickly disorients the viewer. So, the fact that the camera stays to one side of Punk is fully intentional. In fact, I had to redo a couple scenes at one point because I moved the camera over without thinking.
Everything else is valid, though. Thanks for offering your thoughts.
